Coordinate-measuring machine CMM

What is a coordinate-measuring machine?

A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is an advanced metrology system used to analyze and verify the geometry of physical components. By capturing precisely recorded three-dimensional coordinates, the system ensures that each part conforms to specified requirements regarding form, dimensions, and geometric tolerances.

CMM technology is an integral part of quality assurance in modern manufacturing—particularly within the automotive industry, aerospace sector, medical device manufacturing, and precision engineering environments where stringent accuracy and repeatability are critical.

How a Coordinate Measuring Machine Works

A Coordinate Measuring Machine determines a component’s geometry by:

  • Moving a measurement probe along the machine’s three linear axes (X, Y, and Z)

  • Capturing highly accurate measurement points on the surface of the workpiece

  • Processing and comparing collected data against CAD models or engineering drawings

Depending on machine configuration and inspection requirements, measurements can be performed manually, semi-automatically, or fully automated—enabling both flexible prototype inspection and efficient high-volume production control.

Our Measurement Equipment

We utilize the CRYSTA-Apex S Series from Mitutoyo Corporation, one of the market’s most reliable and high-performance coordinate measuring systems. This advanced CMM platform enables us to conduct high-precision dimensional inspections with exceptional accuracy, repeatability, and stability.
